Schools to remain shut by afternoon for 2-days amid ‘heatwave’ alert by IMD.
On Wednesday the daytime temperature in the capital city was 38.4 degree Celsius, which was 4.6 degree Celsius above average. Sources from the education department informed that as many schools are conducting exams, they have been told to advance the timings of exams.
In view of the heatwave warning by the India Meteorological Department, the Goa Education Department has decided to close schools before noon on Thursday and Friday. Director of Education Shailesh Jhingade told IANS that the department has taken this decision because of the heat wave alert. “We have asked schools to allow students to leave till noon,” he said. This is for today and tomorrow.
