Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika, which went on-floors in June-July 2017, has been in the news for quite sometime now. The film was earlier slated to release in April this year, but got pushed due to the delay in shoot and the heavy VFX. Now the film’s shooting is complete and the post production work is going on in full swing.
Reportedly, the movie was scheduled to release in September this year. However, that now looks dicey. Though the movie’s shoot is complete, the VFX for the film is being worked upon and the team doesn’t want to compromise on it, only to meet up with the release date.
A source close to the film confirmed the same to us and revealed, “Manikarnika shoot is completely over barring three days of shoot that couldn’t be done because Manish Wadhwa was injured. So his portions are left. Apart from that the film’s VFX work is going on. The film of such a large scale relies heavily upon VFX. And the makers of the movie don’t want to compromise on it. So definitely, the september release date of it can’t be met. The new release date is being figured out.”
Adds another source, “Since the second half of the year is clouded with many big ticket films, there is no proper window that is available for the release. Hence the team is contemplating of releasing it on the Republic Day weekend.”
Well, if the movie comes out on the Republic Day weekend of 2019, then it is sure to clash with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, which has announced its released a while back. The official announcement for Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika is expected to happen by this month end.
