Pearl V Puri arrested: Television actor, 31-year-old Pearl V Puri was arrested on Friday by Mumbai Police on charges of raping a minor girl.
He and five others were have been booked for rape under the section of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act on June 4 late-night after a girl and her family filed a rape and molestation case against him in Mumbai.
He was arrested in Vasai in connection with the rape of a minor, said Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) DCP, Zone 2, Sanjay Patil. The officer told a leading daily that the actor has been remanded to police custody. Police said that it is an old case in which a minor girl had alleged that Puri had made sexual advances by promising her a career in television serials.
Meanwhile, Pearl V Puri’s Naagin 3 co-star Anita Hassanandani has come out in his support by calling the news “nonsensical”. Her post has been liked by popular TV star Surbhi Jyoti, who starred opposite Pearl in Naagin 3. Anita wrote, “Woke up to some nonsensical news bout @pearlvpuri I know him! It is NOT true… canNOT be true… all lies. I’m sure there is more to it. And the truth will be out soon. Love you @pearlvpuri #ISTANDWITHPEARL.”
Pearl is known for starring in Naagin 3, Naagarjuna Ek Yoddha, and Bepanah Pyaar. He was last seen on Brahmarakshas 2, in which he played Angad Mehra.
