BJP leader and ex-Bigg Boss star Sonali Phogat’s death mystery intensified ever since her family cried foul. Earlier, it was suspected that the TikToker died of a heart attack in Goa where she went with her staff members. However, her brother Rinku Dhaka made explosive allegations her two of her associates and the case took a new leaf.
Haryana BJP leader and actor Sonia Phogat was forcefully given drugs in her meals, Aaj Tak reported citing Goa Police. Earlier, Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka had also levelled similar accusations. Dhaka had claimed that her sister’s personal assistant (PA) Sudhir Sangwan, who is now under arrest, had slipped in a drug in her meal and had raped her while she was unconscious. Dhaka said that Sangwan was using the recordings of the crime to blackmail her sister.
Dhaka claimed in his complaint that his sister had spoken to their mother, sister, and brother-in-law Aman Poonia, “She revealed that Sangwan had raped her three years ago by mixing intoxicants and was now blackmailing her. She said he was also involved in the theft at her house and that she will take action against him after coming to Hisar”, Times of India reported quoting her brother. He further added, “She told Aman that Sangwan and Sukhwinder can do anything with her. The phone got disconnected after that. On the same night, she had also called her mother and claimed that Sangwan had mixed something in her food. The next morning, Sangwan informed us about her death,” he said.
The complainant also claimed that Sangwan, a Rohtak resident, and his friend Sukhwinder, a Bhiwani resident, had joined Phogat’s team as ground workers during the Adampur election and that Sangwan was later appointed as her personal assistant. “After some time, he removed her cook and started making the arrangements himself. Three months ago, she told me that Sangwan had given her some kheer to eat, after which her hands and feet started trembling,” he claimed.
According to Dhaka, Phogat had only planned to visit Chandigarh and had no plans to visit Goa, “They have killed my sister under some political conspiracy. Apart from these two, many other people may also be involved in this murder,” he had alleged.
The post-mortem of the BJP leader has revealed “multiple blunt force injuries” after which the Goa Police registered murder case in the matter on Thursday. Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Wasi, who had accompanied Phogat to Goa when she arrived in the coastal state on August 22, were named as accused in the case.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi told PTI that both the accused have been arrested under a murder charge. “The Anjuna police have arrested Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Wasi in connection with the murder,” he said. Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was added to the case related to the death of the 42-year-old leader, a senior police official said. Phogat (42), a BJP leader from Hisar in Haryana who had found fame on Tik Tok, was brought dead at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna area of North Goa district on Tuesday morning, a police official earlier said, adding that she died of a suspected heart attack. Phogat, who first found fame on TikTok, was brought dead to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district on August 23 morning. Doctors had said prima facie she died of a heart attack.
