The move to shift Chennai Super Kings’ home matches from MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk here to Pune has left a lot of cricket fans disappointed.
On Tuesday, during CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), shoes were hurled at Ravindra Jadeja by three Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) workers during the latter’s innings. Later, Faf du Plessis was seen taking back the shoes out of the ground.
According to India Today, Velmurugan, the leader of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) party, had said that his party would release snakes to the stadium had CSK played Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk.
Despite the shoe-hurling incident, CSK went on to win the match against KKR by five wickets in a thrilling encounter.
While they will face off against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday at Mohali, they will play their first match at Pune against Rajasthan Royals on April 20.
