Skipper Virat Kohli became the fastest Indian skipper to reach the 3,000 ODI run mark during the crucial third and final game against England. However, the captain was dismissed by English spinner Adil Rashid for 71 and his reaction after his wicket fell behind him, was one of the highlights of the match. Kohli was set and looking dangerous when Rashid came into bowl the 31st over. The first ball took off from leg stump to smash off and Kohli was left with a rather stunned look on his face. Kohli’s expression was similar to Mike Gatting’s after being dismissed by Shane Warne’s ‘ball of the century’ in 1993.
Talking about the match, Adil Rashid was named man of the match. Rashid claimed important wickets of Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik who tried to provide India stability after wickets fall at regular intervals. Hosts England won the toss and asked India to bat, who managed to get just 256 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The two teams will now embark on a five-match Test series with the first match being played at Edgbaston from August 1.
