The Captain of the Indian cricket team and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli, visited Charlie’s Animal Rescue Center (CARE) last week. The young skipper is known for his love of dogs and regularly posts pictures of his beloved pet Beagle ‘Bruno’ on Instagram.
On 16th April, Virat entered the premises of the dog orphanage and was greeted by the happy canines. The people at CARE weren’t aware that their guest would be the captain of the cricket team.
“It was simply unbelievable this morning to see Virat Kohli’s car pulling up inside the gates of CARE” was shared on their Facebook page. A founder trustee from CARE said “All we knew was that a VIP would be visiting the center. We weren’t told who. We were asked to keep the place free of any media and have no one here except the staff and trustees.”
Virat’s 10-minute scheduled meet became a 45-minute stay as he met and played with the adorable dogs there. On his arrival, he was welcomed by Dash, a Labrador with special needs, who pounced on the guest. The way he managed the excited dog won the hearts of everyone at the shelter.

His purpose for the visit was to spread the message that dogs must be adopted and asked the staff to share this message on their Facebook page. Virat then passively adopted 15 out of the 50 special needs dogs at CARE. The captain has agreed to take care of the financial needs of the dogs. This includes maintenance, vaccination, medical treatment and will also spend time with the dogs. He will also get photos and regular updates of the dogs. The staff is currently identifying the 15 dogs that require special treatment right now. The 15 dogs that have special needs, are paraplegic, blind or chronically ill.
The man with the golden heart left CARE after telling them “I couldn’t do the things you people do” and promised to visit the shelter again.
